The European Rolling Stock Summit (ERS Summit) 2026 will take place on 16–17 March in Warsaw, Poland, bringing together key stakeholders from across the rail sector. The event will focus on digitalisation, financing, and the future of rolling stock in Europe.

Europe’s Rolling Stock Sector Meets in Warsaw

The ERS Summit positions itself as a meeting point for wagon keepers, rolling stock manufacturers (OEMs), Entities in Charge of Maintenance (ECMs), suppliers, and policymakers involved in shaping the future of Europe’s rail fleets. Over two days, participants will discuss major industry developments, including the financing of Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC) deployment, funding instruments for wagon owners, and the broader regulatory framework influencing the rolling stock market.

Digitalisation will be another central theme of the programme. Experts will examine the current state of digital transformation in freight rolling stock, the development of smart wagons, and the growing role of AI-based predictive maintenance. Discussions will also cover the application of digital twins for locomotive fleets, a technology increasingly used to improve operational reliability and reduce maintenance costs.

The summit will further explore the need to strengthen Europe’s rolling stock supply chain and enhance interoperability, particularly in the context of military mobility and cross-border rail operations. Speakers are expected to address how operational requirements and standards could be more effectively aligned across the EU in order to support a more integrated European railway area.

Among the confirmed speakers are Oana Gherghinescu, Executive Director of the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA); Miroslav Haltuf, Europe’s Rail Management Board Member for the Czech Republic; Christoph Pasternak, CEO of the EUROFIMA; Błażej Czajkowski, Head of EU Funding at Greenbrier Europe; Agnieszka Lewocka, Legal Counsel; Patrick Sluga, Founder of SWS; and Federico Pocetti, Fleet Manager at FS.

The programme will also offer networking opportunities, supplier matchmaking, and an exhibition space presenting technologies and services for the rolling stock sector. An evening networking event is planned to facilitate informal discussions between industry representatives.

RAILTARGET will be present at ERS Summit 2026 in Warsaw, bringing coverage and insights from the event as discussions unfold around the future of Europe’s rolling stock industry.
