RAILTARGET presents you with an exclusive interview with Dragoljub Rajic, Director of Rail Cluster for South East Europe. What is their stance on the Ljubljana Challenges and Opportunities for Railway Companies and Suppliers in the Post-Covid era Conference, and what rail events are they preparing in the future?
You are one of the main organizers of this conference in Slovenia. I would love to ask you how you enjoyed it. What are your feelings?
I think that this conference is very good because we connect people from the rail industry. A lot of them have now heard about the new opportunities, about the European projects that are funded by the EU, and supported by European companies to go outside of Europe on the railway markets of Norway, Canada, and the US. We also discuss some possibilities that the UK will also be engaged with because the UK now has high-speed rails and other projects. And it's good to mix a lot of people for rail business in one place because they discover some new chances for them. And, interestingly, some of the Slovenian companies present here today haven't had any meetings for five, six, or seven years. And they're in the same country! And this kind of conference is very good. Now all these people have a chance to meet each other, especially after the Covid period and all these limitations on travelling.

This conference also has some practical parts because you visit a few Slovenian companies. Can you tell us more about it?
Yes. We are used to organizing business visits in some countries, and then the conference on the last day of the visit. And some of the Slovenian companies, especially engineering companies who are very innovative and have placement of their products in foreign markets, and we see in a practical environment, on the tracks, how some of their projects function. They also explain how they develop these innovative technologies, especially Slovenian companies. For them, the very important issue is protecting the environment, and most of their solutions are 100% friendly to the environment.
And which company is the one that you visit?
We visit ALPA, and also Q Techna, it's the company that's in charge of interoperability in Slovenia. But they have 66 engineers, and they are very experienced in different kinds of performances for rail technologies and engineering for the railway.

Next year there should be a SEE-Mobility fair. I would like to ask you if you're in process of preparing for this fair.
Yes, we have plans to hold a fair, probably at the end of May next year. But now we also are in communications with our partners, with governmental Serbia, because Serbia is the host country of the fair, and I think that maybe during the InnoTrans, we will know the final date for the next year. We have a deep interest in the companies not only in the region but from all over Europe, that are part of the fair. Some of them are exhibitors, and some of them are visitors. And we hope to promote some new ideas and business practices at the next fair.
