Bratislava has become the capital of Digital Automatic Coupling this week. A seminar was held at the headquarters of ZSSK CARGO, attended by the leaders of the rail freight sector. Among those present were representatives of ŽESNAD.cz, AROS RAIL SK, ČD Cargo, ZSSK CARGO and ZVKV.
DAC is a pan-European topic that is driving the rail sector. Many issues are not clear to the carriers, so these seminars are always accompanied by a dynamic discussion. The first seminar on DAC took place in July at the SCSC meeting. In October, the DAC DAY conference was held in Prague, and now, in November, the seminar for the Czechoslovak area was held in Bratislava.

At the seminar in Bratislava, the timetable for the DAC roll-out was absolutely central, presented by DAC Ambassador Libor Lochman and Carlo Borghini, Executive Director of the ERJU. Czech and Slovak managers were presented in detail with the milestones for the DAC roll-out in the EU, with the final roll-out date to be 2030.
These seminars, especially because of the expert discussions, are of great benefit to both carriers and EU speakers. It is the exchange of views between those implementing the coupling in terms of legislation and those who will actually use it in their fleets that are crucial for the successful implementation of DAC in Europe.
