Anticipating the complete closure from November 18, 2024, to July 4, 2025, ÖBB has crafted a meticulous plan to ensure minimal inconvenience. Until March 2025, the Gastein Valley will maintain rail connectivity, while both the Gastein and Möll valleys will be accessible via public transport throughout the closure. The Tauern Tunnel will resume single-track operation from July 5, coinciding with the summer holidays, and fully reopen on July 14, 2025. To accommodate long-distance travel, a temporary bus service between Bischofshofen and Spittal-Millstättersee will bridge the gap for commuters and tourists alike during this period.
