Last weekend, in a collaboration involving the Haivoron City Council, Golovaniv District Administration, and Kirovohrad Regional State Administration, Ukraine celebrated its rich railway heritage with the cultural event, "Steamers Rush to Victory." Drawing over 2,000 railway enthusiasts from across the nation, the event featured a diverse array of attractions from steam locomotive tours, a locomotive parade, and folk music performances, to horseback riding by the scenic Southern Bug riverbank.

Ukrzaliznytsia showcased an impressive collection of steam locomotives, notably featuring three 1520 mm gauge freight locomotives from the 1950s: L-3535, Er799-18, Er798-71, and three narrow-gauge engines including Gr-280 paired with Gr-336, both hailing from the 1950s. The highlight was undoubtedly the 1938-built locomotive, 159 No. 4-95. This unique train, having been restored after an 18-year hiatus, holds the distinction of being Ukraine's oldest operational locomotive and the world's sole working locomotive of its series.
