A locomotive owned by PKP Intercity, decorated with commemorative graphics honoring the Ulma Family, was unveiled on Thursday at Warsaw's Central Station. The Ulma Family, who were murdered by the Germans during World War II for harboring Jews, are being beatified in a series of events organized by the Committee for Events Accompanying the Beatification of the Ulma Family.
During the presentation, Wojciech Kolarski, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, said, "The inscriptions on this locomotive and the exhibition at the Central Railway Station will remind thousands of people of the history of the Ulma family, of which all Poles can be particularly proud."

The PKP Group's contribution to the beatification events was highlighted by Krzysztof Mamiński, President of the Management Board of Polskie Koleje Państwowe S.A. Tomasz Gontarz, Vice President of the Management Board of PKP Intercity S.A., mentioned PKP Intercity's ongoing efforts in popularising and commemorating key historical figures and events.
Over the next few months, the commemorative locomotive will lead PKP Intercity trains from Poland to Berlin, initially between Warsaw Gdańska and Berlin Hauptbahnhof, and subsequently between Przemyśl Główny and Berlin Gesundbrunnen.

The same day also saw the opening of the 'Samarytanie z Markowej' exhibition dedicated to the Ulma Family at the Central Railway Station in Warsaw. The Ulma family, consisting of Józef and Wiktoria Ulma and their seven children, was killed by the Germans for sheltering a group of Jewish people in their home during World War II. Their beatification ceremony will take place on 10 September 2023 in Markowa.
