The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group has announced a close cooperation with the Austrian Federal Forests (ÖBf), in which the entire rail logistics process for timber transportation has been digitized. It includes electronic waybills, empty wagon ordering, future transport status messages and ETA (estimated time of arrival information) forecasts.
"With Rail Cargo Group, we have a high-performance logistics partner on board to ensure environmentally friendly transport," says ÖBf CEO Rudolf Freidhager.
ÖBB helps to steadily streamline and simplify processes by networking data and eliminating disruptive environments in rail logistics, thereby not only speeding up internal and external processes but making them more transparent and efficient.
"Not only do we know at the push of a button where the timber transport is at any given moment, but we can also seamlessly track where every single tree harvested in our forests comes from and where it is delivered to," says Freidhager.
Digitalization has long been synonymous with making freight transport more environmentally friendly, modern and faster, and digitalization is exactly the course the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group has been pursuing so vigorously and successfully for years.
