Flirt: Modular Concept and Unique Design
The Flirt unit for Valle d’Aosta is fully modular, enabling adaptation to different operational and passenger requirements. Stadler delivers both diesel and electric variants, but representatives of the autonomous northern Italian region chose the electric version.

Particular attention was drawn to the visual motif on the train’s side. A stylised heart composed of regional symbols reflects the natural and cultural identity of Valle d’Aosta. The design underlines the link between modern mobility and regional heritage.
Speaking on behalf of Stadler, Ansgar Brockmeyer, Executive Vice President for Marketing and Sales, highlighted the project. Representatives of Valle d’Aosta also attended, expressing enthusiasm for the concept, operation, and design.

Flirt Units Also Operate in the Czech Republic
Stadler uses international trade fairs to remind audiences of successful regional projects. The Flirt exhibit complemented a broader Stadler showcase, which included the celebration of the 1,000th vehicle produced at its Polish plant in Siedlce earlier in the week.
In the Czech Republic, Flirt units are also in service. Under the designation Class 480, five trainsets are operated by Leo Express on the Prague–Ostrava line and on international routes to Kraków and Košice.

At TRAKO 2025, Stadler demonstrated that revisiting earlier projects can still attract attention. In the case of the Valle d’Aosta Flirt, the company combined technical flexibility with a striking design, giving regional trains a distinctive character.
