Siemens Mobility recently received an order from Danish State Railways( DSB) for another 8 Vectron AC locomotives. The order means that more than 1,000 Vectron locomotives have just been booked for nearly 50 customers from 16 countries.

Vectrons are the most modern on the European market for universal locomotives with modular construction, which allows meeting the requirements and specifics of driving in different countries and under different operating conditions.

The locomotive was created to carry out various transport tasks, both passenger and freight. The efficiency and profitability of the implementation of traction tasks, adaptation of the vehicle in national and cross-border transport, as well as passenger and freight in Europe, were essential.

Used equipment variants allow operation in various traction propulsion systems and in different power variants. Siemens Mobility also offers a standard Smartron and Vectron Dual Mode locomotive for freight transport in selected countries.

“The sale of the thousandth Vectron is a milestone that underlines the long-term trust and satisfaction of our customers. The success of the Vectron locomotive is based on the concept of a platform that offers solutions for a wide range of transport tasks. Thanks to their modular locomotive design, they are durable, flexible, and versatile,“ said Sabrina Soussan, CEO of Siemens Mobility.

With the new order, the Vectron locomotive fleet operated by DSB grew to 42 locomotives. New vehicles will be used in passenger transport. Their deliveries began at the end of 2020.

''As part of the modernization of DSB rolling stock, we are focused on providing sustainable public transport with proven electric platforms. We look forward to another contract for Vectron locomotives and the fact that we will receive vehicle no. 1000 shows that standard and finished products can be created in the railway industry',' said Jürgen Müller, Executive Vice President for Strategy and Rolling Stock at DSB .
