Lithuanian Railways (LTG) announces the selection of its Chief Executive Officer. The main tasks of the future CEO include further diversification of the LTG Group companies' activities, search for new business opportunities, and increasing efficiency. Candidates have until 8 April inclusive for submitting the necessary documents.
"The main challenge for the LTG Group is to accelerate diversification and the related structural changes and digitalization. We are thoroughly analyzing and assessing the impact of the Russian government's war against Ukraine, but it is already clear that the situation requires an even faster pace of change. Today, it is crucial to react quickly, adapt effectively to the changing business environment, and chart a clear course for the future. We hope that the future company's CEO will continue to mobilize the team for important work and make a significant contribution to the development of railways - the most sustainable mode of transport in Lithuania," says Kęstutis Šliužas, Chairman of the Board of LTG.
LTG's CEO is appointed by the LTG Board. The selection of the most suitable candidates will be assisted by executive search experts Master Class Lietuva. This company was selected as the selection partner through a public procurement process.
The newly appointed LTG CEO is tentatively expected to start work in the second half of the summer. The exact timing of the new CEO joining the team will also depend on the commitments they will have to complete before taking up their new position.
As of 4 January this year, LTG is temporarily headed by Egidijus Lazauskas, who previously held the Managing Director position of LTG Cargo.
Lithuanian Railways is the largest state-owned railway group in the Baltic States, with three main areas of activity: rail freight and passenger transport, and the management, maintenance, and development of public railway infrastructure. The Group consists of five directly owned companies: LTG Cargo, LTG Link, LTG Infra, Geležinkelio tiesimo centras, Rail Baltica statyba. The Group employs almost 8,000 people.
