100 electric locomotives from the Romanian manufacturer Softronic Craiova were sold to the Swedish company Green Cargo. These locomotives are used in freight transportation. 10 of these locomotives will be delivered every year on. According to this, Sofotronic will be on the job until 2030.
Green Cargo states that new locomotives have number of advantages. For instance - special technologies that are suitable for the Nordic climate. They offer the possibility of using more capacity, place more emphasis on safety as well as transport costs reduction. These locomotives are also more environmentally friendly because of the lower energy consumption. This is nowadays trend in rail freight generally. Green Cargo is up on this trend while their trains have almost zero impact on the climate.
TransMontana locomotives are the first locomotives from Softronic Craiova with asynchronous motors. They are six-axle and are equipped with a 25 kV 50 Hz system transformer driving six asynchronous motors. The locomotive can reach speeds of over 200 km / h.
