ERA (The European Railway Agency) has given the uniform safety certificate to RheinCargo, which will last for the next five years. The company can carry out cargo in Austria while utilizing the already existing routes in Germany and the Netherlands.
“We are pleased to have received the European Safety Certificate. This means that we can continue to offer our customers end-to-end services across borders - and now also in Austria," said Wolfgang Birlin, the managing director responsible for the railway sector at RheinCargo, happily responding to the decision.
There are strict legal requirements that must get fulfilled to have a chance to obtain the ERA certificate. One of the requirements is an EU-approved safety system. Furthermore, the companies must meet the national requirements for safe transport in the rail network.
The company got one of these safety certificates back in 2012 when the company got established. This original 2012 certificate got created for specific operations in Germany and the Netherlands. This certificate got renewed in 2017. The now new, unified safety certificate applies to the national areas of operation in Germany, the Netherlands, and, for the first time, also in Austria.
RheinCargo got also given renewed approval to transport dangerous merchandise.
