On 25 November, the Railway Workers' Day in Poland, DB Cargo Polska took over four multi-system locomotives from Siemens Mobility. The locomotives were of the Vectron MS type. DB Cargo Polska CEO Marek Staszek and Robert Nowakowski - a Member of the Board of Directors for Production, were responsible for testing the reliability of these locomotives.

The new Vectron MS locomotives for DB Cargo Polska have a maximum power of 6.4 MW, are equipped with ETCS following the current specifications (Baseline 3), and can reach a speed limit of 160 km/h. The locomotives are homologated for Poland and the Czech Republic, while vehicles from the Vectron platform got approved for operation in almost 20 European countries. Each of the new Vectrons got covered with design graphics referring to the importance of the European Year of Railways, ecology, and the paintings of Jarosław Jaśnikowski.

"The Vectrons for DB Cargo are unique vehicles also thanks to the graphics they get decorated with. We refer to both the European Year of Railways and the pro-ecological features of rail transport ("Playing Green") and a real treat for railway and painting enthusiasts is the inspiration from the work of painter Jarosław Jaśnikowski - an internationally renowned creator of magic realism.

Jasnikowski's painting gets also defined by the artist's passion for all kinds of fantastic vehicles and machines, and the Vectron locomotive fits perfectly into this concept," said Krzysztof Celiński, Chairman of the Board of Siemens Mobility.

The purchased locomotives will get used for the development of intermodal transport.

"We are constantly expanding and modernizing our fleet of electric rail locomotives. Thanks to the Vectron multi-systems, we will not only expand the range of intermodal services. We will also reduce our carbon footprint. In DB Cargo Polska, 90% of transports get carried out by electric rolling stock. In line with our declaration, from 2023 our electric locomotives will be entirely powered by renewable energy sources, which allows us to offer green transport services," said Marek Staszek, Chairman of the Management Board of DB Cargo Polska.
