In September, the Transch Villach-Italy transport network was significantly expanded with a new Villach-Trieste connection. Thanks to this, for the first time, the Rail Cargo group will offer direct rail transport via a new rail connection from the multifunctional terminal at the port of Trieste and back.

Thanks to the new TransFER, a continuous connection to the existing intermodal connection TransFER Villach – Trieste is additionally possible, everything will take place under the RCG group's own traction from the logistics hub at the port of Trieste in both directions. At the same time, the railway connection itself guarantees the ecological transport of freight on railway wagons, especially wood, steel, aluminum and other non-ferrous metals directly to the multifunctional terminal Trieste Servola (Piattaforma Logistica di Trieste). This includes the established part of the Scalo Legnami rail freight terminal with a berth and a newly established container area with a Roll-on-Roll-off (RoRo) unit with its own berth.

The TransFER Villach-Trieste connection thus represents sustainable and efficient transport from one of the most important European ports in both directions, with an ideal connection to other European and Asian ports.
