The management board of PKP CARGO SA and the trade unions operating within the company urgently call on Prime Minister Donald Tusk to immediately compensate for the significant costs incurred during the priority transport of 4.5 million tons of coal.

This massive logistical effort carried out under directives known as the Coal Decision (Decyzję Węglową) issued by the Prime Minister on July 25, 2022, and October 6, 2022, has caused substantial financial difficulties for PKP CARGO. In a formal letter addressed to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, PKP CARGO detailed the severe impact these operations have had on their financial stability. "We request that all necessary legal and organizational actions be taken to ensure compensation for the company," the letter states.

PKP CARGO played a crucial role in distributing coal across the country to meet national energy demands. These operations were essential during a period of high demand but brought about considerable costs, which have now become a major concern for the company. The management and union representatives have, therefore, called for urgent government action to address this financial burden. They argue that compensation is vital to enable PKP CARGO to continue its operations without further financial stress.

Additionally, the management board of PKP CARGO plans to send a detailed breakdown of the incurred costs and losses to the Minister of State Assets to clarify the financial impact of the coal transport and expedite the compensation process. The leadership of PKP CARGO and the union representatives are united in their request for government support, asserting that resolving this issue is crucial for the future of the company.
