Laude Smart Intermodal S.A., a provider of transport and logistics services and one of the most rapidly growing companies in the intermodal sector, has expanded its fleet with Europe's most modern locomotive, the Vectron MS. The vehicle was purchased with support from European Union funds for intermodal transport, through the Centre for European Union Transport Projects.
The Vectrons are the most modern universal locomotives on the European market, with a modular design that allows easy adaptation to the requirements of use and specifics of driving in different countries and different operating conditions. The locomotive was built to handle a wide variety of transport tasks, both passenger and freight.

At the end of 2019, Laude Smart Intermodal S.A. signed a contract for the purchase of a Vectron multi-system locomotive. The new vehicle has a power output of 6.4 MW in AC and 6.0 MW in DC. It is equipped with an ETCS system that complies with the current specifications (Baseline 3) and develops a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The locomotive is approved for Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, with vehicles from the Vectron platform approved for operation in as many as 20 European countries.
"Every year, we see a dynamic growth of several per cent in intermodal transport, above all on international routes, for the development of which multi-system electric line locomotives are essential. The new vehicle in the hands of Laude Smart Intermodal fits into this trend and will serve the operator today and for the next few decades," says Krzysztof Celiński, CEO of Siemens Mobility Sp. z o.o.
Currently, 50 Vectron locomotives are in the hands of Polish operators, with many more entering the PKP PLK S.A. network daily. To date, more than 1,000 Vectron locomotives have been sold to more than 50 customers in 16 countries across Europe. In Poland, Vectron locomotives have been purchased by PKP CARGO, Industrial Division, Lotos Kolej, DB Cargo Polska and Laude Smart Intermodal.

"Laude is associated with a fresh outlook and innovation, and we want to be a game changer in the logistics market. We are happy that our new project called TIME FOR REVOLUTION will be operated by Siemens' Vectron MS locomotive, which is technologically the latest on the market. The revolution we have planned will certainly require more locomotives, and we hope to conquer more markets with Siemens locomotives," announces Marcin Witczak, President of Laude Smart Intermodal.
"The business and operational partner of LAUDE SMART INTERMODAL is one of Europe's largest rail carriers, PKP CARGO S.A. Closer cooperation will allow support for the LAUDE revolution and further effective development of business projects, as well as optimisation of processes and costs through joint use of modern rolling stock - locomotives and wagons, both owned by LAUDE and PKP CARGO," states Marcin Witczak, CEO of Laude Smart Intermodal.
The Laude locomotives were purchased with funding from European Union aid under Measure 3.2 Development of maritime transport, inland waterways and multimodal connections, priority axis III of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020 through the Centre for European Union Transport Projects (CUPT) to support the development of intermodal transport.
