Last Wednesday, DB CARGO and DB CARGO Czechia arrived in Čierna nad Tisou. The interest from the German and Czech sides was in the train building in the station, the processing of trains, or transshipment. There was also a question of expanding cooperation in transporting trains from Slovakia to Germany. In Čierna nad Tisou, agro-products going to Germany are transhipped, as well as steel and iron. Trains can transport much larger volumes of materials in a single journey. Most importantly, train transport produces far fewer greenhouse gas emissions. During the metallic period in 2020, ridership plummeted. Over time, with previous restrictions having been lifted, traffic has recovered to reach a pre-metallic state. More than 80 thousand tonnes of goods were transported to Germany in 2021 and 144 thousand tonnes the following year. Since 2023, or in seven months, 110 thousand tonnes have already been transported.
