After the Supervisory Board removed almost the entire Board of Directors of PKP CARGO in October last year, the company has not yet managed to put together a complete composition. Based on the announced qualification procedure only a member responsible for operations has so far been selected. From February 3rd, 2022, Marek Olkiewicz has officially taken his position in PKP CARGO.
The new member of the Board of Directors is a graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology and the Częstochowa University of Technology, as well as postgraduate MBA, DBA, and LL. M.
Marek Olkiewicz has 30 years of professional experience in the railway industry, of which fifteen have held managerial positions. Prior to taking over the position of PKP CARGO S.A. worked, among other things, at PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. as Vice President – Operations Director, Deputy Director and Director of the Railway Department in Łódź, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Railway Employers for PKP and sat on the supervisory boards of other commercial companies.
Marek Olkiewicz is a specialist in transport and management. He has experience gained in all key areas of operational management – from train traffic management, through logistics, finance, and human resources to the management of regional and organizational structures.
According to the published information of the Polish state railway carrier, 31 candidates took part in the tender for positions on the company’s board of directors, who submitted 34 applications. Of which:
6 in the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors
5 as a member of the Board of Directors for Financial Affairs
7 as a member of the Board of Directors for Business Affairs
15 as a member of the Board of Directors for Operational Affairs
1 without specifying the position
