LTG Cargo, a Lithuanian freight transport company, has suspended both carriage and loading of all public wagons to Russia and Belarus in connection with the war Russia has been waging on Ukraine for more than three weeks.

In addition to shipments to Russia and Belarus, the company has suspended shipments to other countries transiting through these states, as well as the transportation of cars leased to Russian customers. Thus, LTG Cargo stopped all its rolling stock in Russia.

The company had earlier called on the Russian and Belarusian Railways to urgently return the cars owned by LTG Cargo, including those that were in transit through these countries. There has been a movement of railcars towards Lithuania in the last few days.

The company has informed its customers about the ban on cargo shipments related to individuals under sanctions that the EU has imposed in response to Russia's invasive policies. Eglė Šimė, CEO of LTG Cargo, said, "We unequivocally condemn the military actions of the aggressor states against Ukraine. We are taking steps to reduce our ties with Russia and Belarus and prevent our assets from being used for their purposes. As the circumstances surrounding the transportation of goods are constantly changing, we continue to analyze and assess in detail the impact of the Russian war on our activities and take comprehensive measures to implement the EU sanctions.

LTG Cargo owns a fleet of cars of two types: cars that are leased out on a long-term basis to customers (these cars are operated by customers as private ones) and cars that are owned and operated by LTG Cargo (these cars are allocated by the company for specific transportation operations).
