Laude Smart Intermodal announces plans to invest in a railway terminal in Ukraine, enhancing its intermodal transport services and expanding cargo transportation capabilities.
Pavel Kolosko, CEO of Laude Smart Intermodal, mentioned that the company is looking at different locations to support the growth and variety of transport services in the area as Laude aims to strengthen its offerings in sea freight and road transport along with its intermodal services, according to Rail.insider.
Cargo Transportation Growth
In recent months, Laude Smart Intermodal has seen significant growth in its operations, transporting over 53,000 TEUs in the first half of 2024 alone, marking an important advancement in the development of intermodal transport within Ukraine, as Kurier Kolejowy reports. The company mainly uses 40-foot platforms and specialized containers designed for various cargo types, including tank containers for transporting oil, petrol, gas, and cement.

Innovative Container Solutions
Laude has implemented several innovative solutions to improve its cargo transport capabilities. This includes using HTCOIL folding floor containers for steel coils and 20-foot HTSYP containers for bulk materials. The new tank containers with a nominal volume of 52.3 m³ and an 85% usable volume will enhance the company's service offering. Kolosko pointed out that safety and efficiency are paramount in their operations, particularly given the dynamic nature of the market, according to Centre for Transport Strategies.
Expanding Rail Connections
Laude Smart Intermodal is also focusing on increasing its rail connections within the European Union. The company's terminal in Zamość plays a key role in facilitating these operations. They currently run a weekly service on the Ternopil-Zamość-Gdansk route and plan to add a second train to meet growing demand. With this expansion, Laude aims to better integrate Ukrainian goods into European logistics chains, allowing for smoother transportation to countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, and Romania.

Strengthening Market Position
As one of the key players in the rail container transport market in Ukraine, Laude Smart Intermodal operates offices in Zaporizhzhya, Dnipro, and Vinnytsia. The company is committed to strengthening its position and contributing to the development of intermodal transport in the region, aiming for a projected target of 89.3 thousand TEUs by the end of 2024.
