Thanks to two new vessels that will start to operate in April 2022 in the Baku-Turkmenistan-Baku direction, more container shipment services will ensure better Europe-Asia transport connections.
The first vessel on this route has been in the operation since April 2019 and has already managed to transport 17,500 containers. In the year 2021 the volume of the freight traffic has increased by 101% compared to the last year. There are certain operators and members in the area that played a key role in such improvement.
The shipments are done jointly by GR Logistics and Terminals (a subsidiary of JSC Georgian Railway), the Turkish company – Pacific Eurasia Logistics, the Azerbaijani company – ADY Container, the Transport and Logistics Center OJSC of Turkmenistan, the Uzbek company – Uzbektemiryolexpedition and the Kyrgyz railway operator.
The goal of these actors in this area is to reduce the shipping time to 12 days. So far, the fastest recorded transportation time was in May 2021, when the transit time to Kyrgyzstan from Turkey was only 18 days.
