In the drive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and switch to sustainable energy sources, there is an increasing focus on hydrogen technology. PESA, Europe's leading manufacturer of rolling stock, is moving forward in this area. PESA recently unveiled its new hydrogen locomotive, which offers an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solution for rail transport.
PESA's hydrogen locomotive represents a revolutionary step forward in rail transport. This locomotive is powered by hydrogen fuel cells, which means it produces no harmful emissions into the air. Hydrogen technology thus offers an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional diesel locomotives, which are responsible for a significant proportion of greenhouse gas emissions.

In the world of rail transport, the constant goal is to achieve greater efficiency, reliability, and environmental friendliness. One of the technologies…
The four-axle locomotive is equipped with two hydrogen cells that produce energy and have a total output of 170 kW. These cells then power four 4x180 kW asynchronous traction motors via a traction battery, allowing a maximum speed of 90 km/h. Hydrogen tanks with a total capacity of 175 kg are available. One full tank provides the locomotive with enough energy for 24 hours of operation. In addition, the locomotive is equipped with an autonomous control system that allows the driver to control the vehicle by radio with only one hand when setting up trains. It is also equipped with an anti-collision system.
