Starting from September 5, travellers on the Almtalbahn route between Sattledt and Wels will have the benefit of two extra train connections on weekdays, excluding Saturdays.

The train services include R3243 departing from Wels at 5:43 am, arriving at Sattledt at 6:04 am, and R3244 departing from Sattledt at 6:13 am, arriving at Wels at 6:34 am.

The new schedule is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation, and Technology (BMK) in conjunction with the Rail Infrastructure Service Company (SCHIG) and the Province of Upper Austria.

The provision of this service is part of the Upper Austrian infrastructure initiative, which aims to develop rural areas by investing in regional railway modernisation. The improvement of the infrastructure has the potential to increase the use of ecological public transport services in the region. The expansion of services is of particular benefit to commuters who travel to large businesses such as Fronius International in Oberhart, and provides easy access to the nearest provincial capitals. For example, passengers can travel from Wels to Marchtrenk and Linz with the REX1687 or in the direction of Salzburg using RJ848 or REX 5056.
