European rail operator METRANS has significantly expanded its service offerings by initiating a new freight connection between Poland and Ukraine, enhancing the logistical network linking major Ukrainian cities such as Kyiv and Odesa with the European rail system.
This initiative, which began operations over the Easter weekend, includes regular routes between the METRANS terminal in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland, and Mostyska in Ukraine. This route is particularly strategic as it capitalizes on the capabilities of terminal operations managed by HHLA in Ukraine, facilitating efficient cargo movement across borders.
This service is part of a larger collaborative effort between METRANS, the Ukrainian Intermodal Company, and other stakeholders to bolster the reliability of freight transportation between the EU and Ukraine. "The project is important for the cargo going to and from Ukraine and is great example of good cooperation between Ukrzaliznytsia and METRANS. Together with Ukrainian Intermodal Company, part of the HHLA group, we are happy to offer our clients reliable services," said Martin Koubek, responsible for METRANS' connections to countries with 1520mm rail tracks.
