Estonia is starting to form its point of view on the proposal of the European Commission on the transition to a single railway track throughout Europe and considers it necessary to hold consultations on this with Lithuania and Latvia.

According to Indrek Gailan, the head of the Department of Transport Development and Investments of the Ministry of Economy and Communications of Estonia, behind the commission's proposal, there is the desire to separate Russia and Belarus from the pan-European transport network and add Ukraine and Moldova to it.

Indrek Gailan noted that discussions with the European Commission would begin in the fall, and Estonia's position was still being formulated. However, first of all, it is necessary to receive information on this issue from Latvia and Lithuania, he said.

In turn, the Minister of Transport of Finland, Timo Harakka, said that the request of the European Commission to change the width of the track is unfounded, and the current track should remain in Finland.

It's worth mentioning that at the end of July, the European Commission made changes to the indicative maps of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), including Ukrainian logistics routes, and at the same time, removing routes from Russia and Belarus.
