The first purchased trains are to be deployed on the route between Copenhagen, Aarhus, and Hamburg in 2024, and the most recently ordered trains are to enter commercial service in 2026 and 2027. The original capacity of the carriages was to be 442 seats, but it was later expanded to 493 seats. The carriages will be hauled by dual-mode Vectron locomotives manufactured by Siemens Mobility.
According to Jürgen Müller, director of the strategy and rolling stock at the Danish railway company DSB, it is cheaper and more energy efficient to run with a combination of a locomotive and a guide car instead of two locomotives. The trains will be able to travel at a speed of up to 200 km/h, and their width will be greater than that of standard carriages, thanks to which passengers will have more space and greater comfort.
