On December 7, for the fifth time in a row, Deutsche Bahn won a prize for its devotion to battling climate change. DB, once again, received the best possible ranking, the 'A-ranking' from the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). CDP is a non-profit organization that works within a global disclosure system to control the environmental consequences for investors, companies, cities, states, and regions.
The announcement of the ranking, which took place in London, evaluated all 13,000 applied companies and selected the 272 best that received an A-ranking.
This year, around 13,000 companies globally applied to have their climate protection goals and activities valued and checked by CDP.
DB published their climate protection activities in the sustainability media package, which is now available on their website.
“Sustainability is our brand essence, which is why we are setting ourselves much more ambitious goals for climate protection.
For the past thirty years, the railway industry has been able to decrease the CO₂ emissions by roughly 70%
Traveling by train is active climate protection. And that is why the investment and modernization offensive of our Strong Rail Strategy is exactly the right way to organize modal shift and achieve the climate targets," said Dr. Richard Lutz, DB CEO.
