By doing so, the chains could also offer more environmentally friendly meals. 2021 is the year of rail, reminding us that rail transport is the only sustainable transportation method. Rail transport is gaining a lot of support within the EU because Sustainability is the current main focal point. That is how fast-food companies could be more environmentally friendly - if they use rail transport instead of Road transport.
Subway, with 37365 locations and annual revenue of US$16.1 billion in 2019, is a strong competitor within the fast-food industry. Subway competing with McDonald's 3998 locations and a US$6.025 billion revenue of 2019 seems like an obvious win to us. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any complex information about the Burger King Corporation.
DB sees potential in many industries, including the fast-food chains. Instead of transporting supplies on roads, DB encourages these companies to move their deliveries to rail, which is still the only sustainable method of transportation.
