DB Cargo, in its latest operations, showcased its prowess in handling project cargo by successfully transporting several heavy units from Italy to Germany. This undertaking began with the transfer of cylinder-shaped parts. A massive 47-ton rotor was skillfully conveyed using a 6-axled flat wagon, which was subsequently followed by an even weightier 82-ton flywheel, safely placed on an 8-axled wagon. The real test for DB Cargo emerged when it was commissioned to transport colossal parts of a press from Northern Italy to Northern Germany. The shipment involved two units: one weighing 95 tons, spanning 3.30 meters in width, and the other a staggering 100 tons with dimensions of 2.95 meters both in width and height. Both units were loaded onto 8-axled wagons. However, the transportation hit an unexpected obstacle. The unfortunate accident leading to the Gotthard tunnel's closure presented logistical challenges, culminating in a delay spanning several weeks.
