ČD Cargo leased five locomotives series 193 from Alpha Trains for one year. These locomotives are to be intended primarily for Austria and Germany, where ČD Cargo is expanding its services.
These locomotives were leased based on a tender, which was finished at the end of 2020. In the first week of January, the machines came to the Czech Republic, they arrived at SOKV Ústí nad Labem. Immediately after their complete acceptance, the locomotives will be put into operation.
Locomotives of the 193 series version A10 are approved for operation in the Czech Republic and its neighboring countries, which include Austria and Germany. However, locomotives can also run in the Netherlands or Hungary.
Five locomotives of the 193 series will be accompanied by two Vectron locomotives, which ČD Cargo also leased.
"In the tender, we requested Siemens Vectron locomotives concerning the unity with the existing fleet and the related number of trained drivers. By renting these locomotives, we partially compensate for the delay in deliveries of 388 series locomotives from Bombardier due to the extension of their approval procedure, not on the side of ČD Cargo.” said Tomáš Tóth, the Chairman of the Board of ČD Cargo.
These cars are intended for activities of ČD Cargo abroad. Priority will be given to the cars in Austria and Germany, where ČD Cargo is expanding its services and its branches. However, it is not ruled out that the locomotives may be used on routes to other countries too.
