CARGOUNIT - the largest independent operator of rail vehicle rental in Poland has received another two most advanced locomotives in Europe - Vectron MS from Siemens Mobility. The vehicles will be used by a new operator on the Polish market - Bahnoperator.
Vectrons are the most modern universal locomotives on the European market, with a modular structure, enabling easy adaptation to the requirements of use and the specificity of driving in different countries, and thus comprehensively meeting the needs of most of today's railway carriers. The basic assumption was the efficiency and profitability of performing traction tasks in domestic and cross-border traffic, both passenger and freight in Europe.
In 2019, CARGOUNIT signed a contract for the purchase of 5 multi-system Vectron locomotives with maintenance. The first three vehicles were handed over at the end of March 2021, and three months later, the fleet increased by another 2 units, completing the contract ahead of schedule. The delivered five Vectron MS locomotives will be operated by a new railway company operating on the Polish market - Bahnoperator, dealing with intermodal transport on European markets.
New vehicles have a capacity of 6.4 MW in alternating voltage and 6.0 MW indirect voltage supply and were equipped with the ETCS system compliant with the current specifications (Baseline 3). The locomotives are intended for operation in Poland, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bulgaria, while the vehicles from the Vectron platform - as the only modern locomotives in Europe - are already approved for operation in 20 European countries. The delivered locomotives will be serviced by the manufacturer's authorized service
The locomotives were purchased with the support of European funds through the Center for EU Transport Projects and the financing of Siemens Financial Services - a company dealing in financing projects in many industrial sectors and offering financial services
