Budamar has launched a new intermodal service on the route between the port of Rostock in northern Germany and Bratislava. The train runs on this route twice a week and carries LKW Walter semi-trailers.
Transports are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays. In the morning, the train set is to arrive from Germany to Bratislava, where unloading takes place throughout the day. In the evening, the train returns to Germany.
The train set consists of a total of 19 Sdggmrs wagons. These are six-axle articulated pocket trucks. The total capacity of the train is 38 transported semi-trailers.
The train is transported on German territory by HSL Logistik GmbHs. Through the Czech Republic and Slovakia, transport is carried out by company Lokorail a.s., which uses one of the five Vectron locomotives of Budamar for route. The relocation of semi-trailers in the port of Bratislava is carried out by the operator Slovenská plavba a přístavy a.s.
LKW Walter is one of the largest players in the combined transport market. It has approximately 10,000 blue semi-trailers with yellow inscriptions. We can see them in a number of European destinations.
Intermodal transport is an increasing trend in the railway sector. Thanks to intermodal transport, there are significant cost savings. This type of transportation is also much more environmentally friendly.
