ÖBB RCG launches a new TransFER service between Sommacampagna-Sona near Verona and Vienna South CCT terminal, offering efficient, cross-border container and swap body transport. This connection streamlines logistics between Northern Italy and Vienna, accommodating various container and swap body sizes.

More departures: round trip increases bring more efficiency

The TransFER Duisburg–Villach–Ljubljana connects Slovenia with Germany via Villach and enables sustainable rail freight with short transit times. The round trip increase from four to five per week contributes to further efficiency in the transport of containers and swap bodies as well as cranable trailers.

RCG now operates with the TransFER Budapest–Neuss five instead of three round trips per week between Hungary and Germany, connecting Western Europe with Southern and South-Eastern Europe at high frequency. Containers between 20 and 45 feet, swap bodies between 25 and 45 feet, and trailers – both cranable and non-cranable – are transported.

New maritime connection: TransFER Burghausen–Trieste

A weekly block train connection for intermodal flows of goods between Burghausen and Trieste starts at the beginning of April. The new TransFER runs with one round trip a week and provides an efficient transport option for intermodal flows of goods between the Burghausen UBF terminal in Southern Germany and the Italian Trieste CMR terminal on the Adriatic Sea. It transports 20-ft and 40-ft containers as well as dangerous goods (RID).

With the introduction of the new TransFER connection, RCG is responding to the growing demand for rail transport solutions in the Bavarian and Austrian markets. Burghausen is an important hub for freight transport between Germany, Austria, and other European economic centers. Trieste, in turn, is an important gateway for trade between Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean region, and also for transport to the Far East.

TransFER – THE connection

With around 60 TransFER connections, over 1,500 TransFER combinations, and numerous individual routes, the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group transports goods across the entire Eurasian continent. The transport units vary from entire wagonloads and intermodal shipments right through to comprehensive customized solutions. Depending on the place of departure and destination, additional freight forwarding services such as transshipment, warehouse logistics, and customs services can be booked. RCG takes care of every last detail – every mile of the way.
