photo: David Payr/RCG/ÖBB RCG Significantly Increases the Volume of Agricultural Traffic from Ukraine: Daily Train Service Starting from May!
ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) announced an increase in the frequency of shipments of agricultural products from Ukraine. Commodity trains will run daily from Ukraine to Černá (Slovakia) in the direction of northern Germany for at least three months starting from May 2022.
The company has been diligently expanding its agricultural traffic from Ukraine recently, especially with the start of the war on February 24th. For example, between March and April, ÖBB RCG organized the delivery of grain from Ukraine to Germany every other day along the route Slovakia - Czech Republic - Poland - Germany, thanks to which a total of 60,000 tons of grain were transported. Each train is about 480 meters long and can carry about 2,000 tons of grain.
In addition to ÖBB RCG, subsidiaries of RCG, Rail Cargo Carrier and Rail Cargo Logistics are also involved in the project.
Overall, ÖBB RCG is the leading provider of rail logistics services in Europe and defines the development of the industry. The company is represented in 18 countries, with employees in 15 of them. 5,755 logistics specialists from 34 countries enable ÖBB RCG to deliver 460,000 trains to their destination safely and securely every year, which means about 1,260 daily. Thanks to efficient, integrated logistics solutions, the company transports 95 million net tons every year. With a rail share of 28.2% of the total freight transport in Austria, it ranks first in Europe.
