Complex research and development is being currently ongoing at both the European and national levels to make the DAC ready for series production. Between 2026 and 2030, it will systematically replace the traditional Europeanscrew coupling. One of the important projects of ÖBB's involvement in “Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking” is the DAC for European freight transport to carry out further work for a transformation of the rail strategy. Together with A1 Digital, RCG has created a device that makes freight wagons smart, as the name suggests. The machine records the movements of the cars, transmits their current position, and even detects obstacles on the road. The 10,000 mark has already been broken. In the meantime, the upgrade of the fleet in Hungary has already begun. With 9,340 employees, departments all over Europe, and an annual turnover of around EUR 2.3 billion, the Rail Cargo Group is one of the leading rail logistics enterprises in Europe. the continuous adding of new features will allow entering perspective business areas of application for additional sensors - especially in detecting defective wheelsets, door sensors, and weighing freight wagons.
