This acquisition is subject to a regulatory review and approval which is expected somewhere in the second quarter of 2022. Until then both companies run independently and as usual. If Maersk is looking to tighten the gap between its supply chain and the customer, this is a great addition to its portfolio of services.

“In Maersk we continue our path to develop truly integrated logistics offering for our customers, offering them better visibility, more control, and resilience in their supply chains. Adding the capabilities of Pilot is especially important because it will allow us to create more exciting solutions for our customers and support them through the acceleration of the migration towards e-commerce. Furthermore, it will open significant cost synergy opportunities by leveraging the capabilities we have already developed in the network,” Vincent Clerc, the CEO of Ocean & Logistics, A.P. Moller

Pilot Freight Services is a US-based company established in 1970 specializing in Business-to-Consumer (B2C) delivery for big and bulky goods in the US and Business-to-Business (B2B) that is high value, time-sensitive freight with the last mile and full mile solutions, including in-home installations.

Besides Pilot Freight Services Maersk also added to their portfolio companies such as Performance Team (PT), which is a B2B warehousing and distribution service provider, and Visible SCM, which is an e-commerce warehousing and parcel distribution firm. The whole portfolio of Maersk will allow for great synergies among the newly acquired and already owned companies and therefore offers a significant cost-saving potential.

“We are looking forward to joining Maersk. This is the ideal outcome for our customers, company and employees who will be able to tap into the ambitious transformation of simplifying and integrating global supply chains which will enable us to perform on a larger stage,” Zach Pollock, Pilot Freight Services CEO

The pilot has a network of 87 stations and hubs based in North America for freight transport and distribution to end customers. The company is mainly utilizing the third-party providers of trucking. Together with Maersk, it will make around 150 facilities in the US. Distribution centers, hubs, and stations.
