Italy: the introduction of new services beyond normal logistics services and the use of mobile digital and communication technologies that cover the whole of Europe are the right and active response to the crises and business declines in recent months.
Challenge 1 – BREXIT
Starting January 1st, 2021, goods exported to the UK are subject to customs controls and procedures because Great Britain is no longer part of the European Union. For many companies trading across Europe, this can be a new and unknown complication that hampers business. While it is true that customs duties have not yet been applied, as agreed in the last-minute Trade Agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom signed on Christmas Day, a new administrative burden is inevitable.

Challenge 2 – Digitalization & mobile technologies
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 16th edition of the “Logistics of the Year” Award, organized by Italian Assologistica and Euromerci magazine took place online in mid-December last year. The Award should value and reward managers and companies that bring significant innovation to the logistics sector.
In the section “Innovation in technology and logistics 4.0”, Ambrogio Intermodal received the Special Mention for its mobile application “Ambrogio Track & Trace”. The app was developed in 2019 and allows users to track their cargo shipments in real time. The application is used by 250+ logistic and freight transport companies in Europe.
