At the end of 2021, the Board of Directors of PKP CARGO S.A. has signed contracts with companies from the Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) group for the rail transport of hard coal and lime sorbents with a total maximum weight of 19.4 million tonnes.
The concluded contracts will be valid in the period from 1.1.2022 to 31.12.2024. It got estimated that the maximum total value of the agreements during their validity is PLN 619.06 million net, PLN 761.44 million gross. The tender won by PKP CARGO was one of the largest proceedings in the coal transportation segment last year, and the PGE Group is one of the key clients for the state-owned carrier from Poland.
During the same period, Polska Grupa Energetyczna also announced that the tender submitted by the consortium of DB Cargo Polska, and CTL Logistics had won the tender for the transport of raw materials by rail in 2022-2024. Together, the two carriers should import over 3 million tonnes of coal to PGE.
