The Government of Ukraine has prematurely terminated the authorities of Oleksandr Kamyshin, the chairman of the board of Ukrainian Railways, who was appointed by the Verkhovna Rada as head of the Ministry of Strategic Industries, and appointed board member Yevhen Lyashchenko as the new head of Ukrzaliznytsia.
Having been a member of the railway's management board, Yevhen Lyashchenko was appointed chairman of the board of Ukrainian Railways for a two-year term starting 23 March 2023.

Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine said that Lyashchenko has three essential tasks. "The first is to continue the reform of Ukrzaliznytsia, namely to allocate separate business verticals according to the scope of activities (passenger, freight, production and infrastructure) and to comply with European legislation, especially in terms of safety and inclusiveness. The second is the implementation of the investment programme, including the development of export routes and the creation of the necessary infrastructure, electrification of the necessary railway sections, etc. The third is to make the company break even. We have already approved the Action Plan and have the will to implement it," stated Deputy Prime Minister on Facebook.

In turn, Oleksandr Kamyshin was appointed Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine. He had been chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia since 1 April 2021 and announced his resignation at the end of February 2023.
