Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) will receive USD 25 million from the World Bank. To implement this grant, JSC Ukrzaliznytsia is starting cooperation with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). The relevant agreement was signed in Kyiv. The funds will be used to rebuild Ukraine's critical railway infrastructure and increase freight traffic.

"Ukrzaliznytsia is expanding its portfolio of cooperation with international institutions. For the first time, we have financial support from the World Bank, and under this grant funding, we expect to supply equipment and rolling stock this year. I am confident that the implementation of this project will allow us to expand our partnership to further projects that are strategically important for the railway infrastructure of Ukraine," said Anton Mishin, a member of the Board of Directors of Ukrzaliznytsia.
UNOPS' cooperation with Ukrzaliznytsia involves the procurement of equipment to restore critical railway infrastructure that has been damaged. UNOPS will assist in organizing the procurement according to the best international standards.

It is also expected to increase the fleet of fitting platforms, which will help to expand the capacity of Ukrzaliznytsia to provide containerized cargo transportation, including for the transportation of humanitarian aid and agricultural exports.
