Ukrainian railways appeal to partners and financial donors with the request to provide non-refundable financial assistance for the company's work during wartime. Funds will be used to continue the free-of-charge evacuation, provide shelters for the civilians, and support workers affected by military aggression. Funds raised by this call also will be used to support the statutory activities of the company during the russian military aggression.
"Against the background of open military aggression against Ukraine, which Russia launched on February 24 and is now unfolding, Ukrainian Railways continue its work. The company's top priority today is to ensure the safety of Ukraine's civilian population and transport it to safer regions and protect the lives of workers. Ukrainian Railways continues its activities, being at the forefront of humanitarian, evacuation and economic support to Ukraine," – to the company statement.
Ukrainian Railways also continue the free-of-charge evacuation of the civilians from the regions where shelling by Russia continues. More than 3 million people have been evacuated to safer regions from the beginning of the war. The company also provides freight transportation to meet the needs of the government and businesses.
With the risk for their lives, railroad workers are working to repair damaged equipment and railways as quickly as possible to ensure the transportation of passengers and goods. At the same time, Ukrainian Railways constantly records the facts of the destruction of railway infrastructure and rolling stock. Unfortunately, we also record deaths and injuries of railway workers, members of their families, and the destruction of their homes as a result of attacks by the russian military.
Railway workers are confident that the current situation will not stop Ukrainian railways. On the contrary, the situation will bring the company to a new stage of growth and modernization. Therefore, the company seeks to continue the dialogue with its partners. It highly appreciates financial donors, investors, and partners who support Ukrainian railways and provide non-refundable financial assistance at this difficult time. The company will direct all the raised funds to:
- support for Ukrainian railways personnel who suffered from military aggression;
- evacuation and shelter for civilians;
- support for statutory activities and other functions performed by the company during military aggression.
Ukrainian railways also emphasize that funds received under this call will not be used for military purposes.
