Czech Railway Administration, Správa železnic, has confirmed the appointment of its new Director General. From 1 February, the role will be assumed by Tomáš Tóth, until now Chairman of the Board of ČD Cargo.

Správa železnic will have a new Director General starting from 1 February, following a unanimous decision by its Supervisory Board. The appointment of Tomáš Tóth was confirmed at the board’s first meeting in its newly restructured composition, chaired by Martin Kolovratník.

Who Is Tomáš Tóth?

Tomáš Tóth was born in 1981 in Pardubice and holds a degree in management, marketing, and logistics from the University of Pardubice. He has spent much of his professional career within the Czech rail sector, holding senior management positions within the České dráhy Group. Between 2018 and 2025, he served as Executive Director of ČD Cargo, and from 2020 to 2025 also as Chairman of its Board of Directors, leading the company through a period marked by market volatility and structural challenges in European rail freight.

The appointment follows a decision taken by the Czech government at its most recent meeting, which resulted in changes to the composition of the Supervisory Board of Správa železnic. Martin Kolovratník was appointed Chairman, while Ladislav Němec and Martin Červíček remain members. The board has been newly joined by Tomáš Tyll, with additional appointments to be decided by the government at an upcoming session.

The leadership change is part of a broader effort to stabilise governance at Správa železnic and strengthen coordination between the Supervisory Board and executive management at a time of extensive infrastructure investment and growing operational complexity.
