SŽDC (the Railway Infrastructure Administration) has signed an agreement with Siemens Mobility Czech Republic for the purchase of a Siemens Vectron multi-system locomotive. The railway infrastructure manager will use it for diagnostics of the domestic and foreign railway network, including the ETCS track part.
‚, Siemens Mobility vehicles are a symbol of quality, speed, and comfort for passengers on Czech railways. We are pleased that they will now be the bearer of progress in the area of train protection and infrastructure development, which is intensively devoted to the SŽDC. ”Says Roman Kokšal, CEO of Siemens Mobility, s.r.o.
The acquisition of a multi-system electric locomotive is part of a strategic project for a new measuring diagnostic track set for regular and acceptance measurements of both static and dynamic parameters of traction lines. The electric locomotive will complement the existing fleet of measuring rolling stock of the SŽDC and provide services for comprehensive diagnostics of the railway infrastructure, including ETCS.
The locomotive is equipped with an approved ETCS interlocking system in the highest existing available version, ie. Level 2 Baseline 3.4. This will allow the ETCS track-side tests to be carried out by separate test runs as well as by other vehicles.
The locomotive will be handed over in the autumn and is expected to be used at the same time to tow the SŽDC’s own diagnostic wagons, such as measuring wagons on the railway superstructure, radio network, or the existing wagon for measuring traction lines. It will also partially replace the performance of carriers that SŽDC has to lease.
The locomotive for SŽDC was manufactured at the Siemens Mobility plant in Munich-Allach and a company still used in testing. In addition to the single European train protection system ETCS, it will be equipped with GSM-R and remote diagnostics. The locomotive reaches a nominal traction power of 6400 kW and a maximum operating speed of 200 km / h.
