SYSTRA will provide project management consultancy services for the Belgrade Metro (Line 1) under a contract signed with the Ministry of Transport, the City of Belgrade and the Belgrade Metro and Train utility.
The construction of the three metro lines in Belgrade is planned to strengthen public transport options and reduce car use and is the first metro project in the Western Balkans.

According to SYSTRA, the design of the first line, which will be predominantly underground, is divided into the Makiš depot, the 15.4 km long first phase, which consists of 15 stations, and the 5.96 km long second phase, which consists of 6 stations. French driverless technology will be used in the trains and systems of the first line, which is due to be commissioned by 2030. SYSTRA, in turn, will monitor the design and construction contracts (including permits, costs, progress, quality and performance, etc.)
