Sinara Transport Machines and Evraz West-Siberian Metallurgical Plant (EVRAZ ZSMK) have signed a deal to supply four diesel shunting locomotives of TEM14 and TEM10 types. The shipping of high-performance locomotives gets scheduled for early 2022. Two TEM14 locomotives are planned for delivery in the first trimester, followed by two TEM10s in the second trimester of 2022.
The TEM14 and TEM10 shunters get assembled at Lyudinovo Diesel Locomotive Plant (LTZ). The TEM14 diesel locomotives get powered by two motors, the total capacity of which enables to shunt trains with a weight of up to 6 thousand tonnes. This unique design offers a crucial decrease in emissions. It makes the locomotives more sustainable and environmentally conscious. Aside from Evraz, the TEM14 locomotives get used by the Russian Railways and many industrial enterprises, such as Oteko Group, NLMK Group, and Kazakhstan’s freight operator, Silkway Transit.
To fulfill clients' requests, STM's experts have developed a groundbreaking training program on locomotive usage and maintenance for the Evraz staff. The goal of this workshop is to reach a high level of staff competence. The increased competence is necessary for operating these locomotives and ensuring their subsequent efficient services. This year more than 100 employees took this course of operations of the TEM14 shunters, and soon, the same workshop gets planned to start for the TEM10 diesel locomotives.
Four TGM6D diesel locomotives and one TEM9 shunter locomotive got delivered by STM to Evraz subsidiaries of the mining conglomerate since 2007.
The diesel locomotives delivered previously get used at different Evraz locations. This year, the two companies agreed on a supply of locomotives and additional services worth RUB 1.3 billion (USD 17.7 million). In 2021, four TEM14 heavy-duty hunters were made and delivered by STM to Evraz. Two more locomotives are supposed to get exported in the upcoming days.
