Nevomo, a Polish company, and SNCF, the French national railway operator, signed a Memorandum of Understanding concerning improving the performance of current freight trains for higher loading limits and more capacity on our freight lines, increasing capacity on congested urban passenger lines, and evaluating MagRail as an alternative propulsion system for rural lines in combination with lightweight vehicles.

The aim of introducing railway technology into practice is to make existing railways more ecological, faster, more effective, and compatible with other types of transport. MagRail is meant to help railways increase interest in their use while also lowering CO2 emissions.
Furthermore, MagRail technology allows electric vehicles to operate in non-electrified areas such as terminals and ports. Existing railway systems can thus handle a greater load and guide trains automatically, without the need to develop new tracks.

The first demo version of MagRail Nevomo was introduced in 2019, and the first tests were carried out in 2020. Last year, Nevomo finished construction of the first testing track in the Polish town of Nowa Sarzyna.
However, SNCF is not the only one interested in the new technology; in 2021, Nevomo signed a Memorandum of Understanding on increasing capacity with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, and Port of Duisburg signed a Memorandum of Understanding on increasing capacity with Nevomo.
