Škoda Transportation has signed a contract for the repair and maintenance of electric trains for the Czech Railways (ČD). A contract worth $ 45 million (1 billion Czech crowns) is designed for 5 years.
At its plant in Šumperk (Czech Republic), Škoda will regularly repair and maintain RegioPanter 440, 640 and 650 series electric trains, as well as InterPanter 660 and 661 series electric trains. The company currently has 41 electric trains in service.
According to ČD, so far the mileage of RegioPanter electric trains, which were delivered in 2012, has already reached about 1.5 million km. According to the contract, comprehensive maintenance of each electric train and scheduled high-quality repairs will be carried out after the run of 900 thousand. km.
Škoda Transportation maintains rolling stock not only of its own production, but also of other manufacturers. Thus, at the moment, work is underway to service cars for the Prague metro, tram cars for the Finnish city of Tampere and the Czech city of Plzen. In the near future, Škoda Transportation plans to sign a contract for long-term maintenance of electric trains for the South Moravian Region.
