Siemens announced in a March 28, 2022 press release that Romania's Distributie Energie Oltenian (DEO), managing distribution networks, will receive the latest Advanced Distribution Management Software (ADMS). ADMS is expected to be operational by the end of 2023.

With this software, the distribution system operator will have access to a smarter grid and progress toward digital transformation, and the DEO will be able to control and monitor all voltage levels in the distribution network. To achieve these goals and improve power system operations, the plan is to integrate not only ADMS but also EnergyIP, the smart meter data management software that provides transparency to electricity consumers.

"The energy transition is putting tremendous pressure on power grids worldwide. To operate power grids efficiently now and in the future, we need more transparency and interoperability. Highly automated workflows to easily share data, simulation capabilities and scenarios across utility functions are key to staying ahead in the energy transition. I am delighted that Distributie Energie Oltenia has again chosen Siemens to provide software to control and monitor the power grid on all voltage levels. In combination with our distribution grid planning software and our meter data management software, we support our customer with their digital transformation program, allowing them to improve processes and the performance of the overall grid," said Sabine Erlinghagen, CEO of Grid Software at Siemens Smart Infrastructure.

As part of the Siemens Smart Infrastructure delivery, Distributie Energie Oltenia will receive Spectrum Power ADMS network management software, PSS SINCAL, transmission and distribution network applications, outage management, short- and medium-term load forecasting, operator training simulator, and interface integration with other corporate IT systems, such as the EnergyIP meter data management system.
