One of the largest leasing companies in Europe has signed an agreement on the maintenance of the traction vehicles of TRAXX fleet with the Zagreb company KONČAR. The company has thus achieved a new service facility in the region of the Balkan countries, thus significantly accelerating the flexibility and speed of servicing traction vehicles in the region and thus opening up the possibility of new acquisitions.
The German company Railpool, which since its establishment in 2008 has become one of the most important leasing companies for the rental of traction vehicles to railway carriers, has concluded an agreement on the implementation of an authorized service for its locomotive series TRAXX with KONČAR in Zagreb, Croatia. In this way, it has significantly expanded the possibilities and availability of repairs to these locomotive types in the Balkan region, thus improving its competitiveness and opening up possible chances for further acquisitions in the region.
KONČAR, which will be entrusted with the task of taking care of routine maintenance, legal control and solving technical complications, has a 50-year tradition and currently operates in several fields, including energy, production and repair of rolling stock and systems for railway infrastructure. They exports its products and services to more than 100 countries around the world. It is also important on the domestic, Croatian market.
Leasing solutions for driving vehicles are becoming affordable and, in particular, economically advantageous for an increasing percentage of carriers in Europe. It combines the advantages of a traction vehicle operator's infrastructure, such as repair flexibility, replacement vehicles and speed, and the economic benefits of low input costs and lower own on-site service requirements. It is for these reasons that Railpool aims to strengthen services in the Balkan region.
The TRAXX locomotive series forms the base of the company's vehicles and is most often used for freight transport in Europe due to their considerable reliability and their high interoperability with several European traction systems. However, locomotives are also used for passenger transport in Poland, for example.
