Košice Region Expressed Interest but Lacked Funds
ŽSR disclosed on its website that they had discussions with representatives of the Košice Self-Governing Region (KSK) last year. Although KSK was interested in purchasing the property, they could not secure funding for the transaction. KSK appealed to the government and the Ministry of Finance for assistance, but their requests were denied.
State Support Aligns with Penta Group's Plans
According to the submission report, tender proceedings took place from November 2021 to March 2024, with the winning bid determined by the highest offer meeting the published terms. ŽSR accepted SI REAL’s bid of over EUR 11 million excluding VAT, anticipating that the company will ensure the continuation of healthcare services. Currently, the Košice Railway Hospital facilities are leased by Železničné zdravotníctvo Košice, part of the Penta Hospitals network.
The Penta Hospital Group had previously confirmed to Denník SME their intention to purchase the hospital property to ensure its long-term operation.
As reported by Zdravotnícky denník, ŽSR plans to use the proceeds from the sale primarily for the settlement of property rights related to land under main rail lines or East Slovak transfer hubs in Čierna nad Tisou and Maťovce.
